Konami Gaming announced on 10 February that its Solstice 49C ranked first in the portrait-upright category of the latest Eilers-Fantini U.S. and Canada Cabinet Performance Report.

What the company reported

Konami said the cabinet achieved average performance figures more than double those of its surrounding zone and total property across data from multiple casino locations. The release attributes the ranking to independent data collected by Eilers & Krejcik Gaming and Fantini Research.

The underlying paid report, sample detail and complete comparison table are not reproduced in Konami’s release. Elvarnex therefore treats the ranking and index values as a manufacturer-reported interpretation of third-party research, not as an independently audited conclusion by this publication.

Hardware and launch content arrive together

Solstice 49C uses a 49-inch C-curve display, lighting that extends from the topper below the button deck, audio hardware above and below the screen, and a digital button deck. Konami linked the launch to Red Fortune Rail, Dragon Firecracker and licensed BOMBERMAN titles, saying the latter appeared among the research group’s top 25 new core video-reel games.

That combination matters because cabinet indexes do not measure industrial design in isolation. Early results can be influenced by the strength of debut games, novelty, floor position, denomination, marketing, property mix and the number of installed units. A compelling cabinet can help content attract attention, while strong content can make a cabinet’s initial index look better.

A cabinet is a platform, but its first performance report is also a report on the launch library and where operators placed it.

What operators need beyond the headline

An index above the house or zone average can be a useful normalization tool, especially across properties with different revenue scales. Buyers still need duration, sample size, confidence intervals, cabinet age, game mix and comparisons with other new products. A ranking shortly after launch may change as novelty fades and the installed base broadens.

Operational factors are equally important: service access, parts availability, heat management, power, network certification, accessibility, button-deck ergonomics and the pace of new content. The best cabinet platform is not simply the one with the brightest launch; it is the one that continues to support productive game rotation.

  • How performance separates by game family rather than cabinet average.
  • Whether international installations produce similar results under different floor conditions.
  • How quickly Konami expands the approved content library.
